SUNSET MUSIC SERIES
The Sunset Music Series has evolved into one of the premier concert series of the Newport summer season where world-renown musicians have graced our stage with tunes for all tastes! We’re proud of our eclectic lineups – rock, folk, blues, reggae, pop, rockabilly, alternative, jambands and everything in between!
In 2011 we had some classic rockers, the Doobie Brothers, banjo jammers, Bela Fleck and the Original Flecktones, we welcomed back the psychedelic lights and lasers as The Machine Performed Pink Floyd with anInterstellar Light Show…feel good fan favorites Guster, moe and the Indigo Girls returned along with a double blues bill that ignited the waterfront~ Robert Cray and Shemekia Copeland! A hot highlight of the summer were the groovy jams of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. It was an outstanding mix of music experienced in our intimate venue on the downtown Newport waterfront! Now that’s Summer!
Ziggy Marley – “Wild and Free Tour” is kicking off our summer series on Friday, June 29th! Newport Harbor will be buzzing with the America’s Cup World Series that week ~ we can’t think of a more festive artist to play the waterfront and kick off our summer of live music!
Because Reggae music is such a favorite at the Newport Yachting Center later in the summer we dedicate an entire day and night to it! August 11th is the third annual Newport Waterfront Reggae Festival- we ‘re crafting that lineup now, be sure to check back for more details. Do you dig Music Festivals like we do? We’ve got lots planned for you this summer with two brand new festivals – a Blues & BBQ Festival on August 18th and a Celtic Rock Festival on August 25th! These festivals boast over 10 hours of live music on multiple stages in a casual and flexible general admission format.
