NEWPORT WATERFRONT REGGAE FESTIVAL
People get ready: This Saturday, August 13, our second annual Newport Waterfront Reggae Festival takes over the waterfront… a full day of positive vibes and easy skankin’. Where better to groove to the laid-back summer sounds of reggae, roots, rocksteady, dub, ska, dancehall and more than on Newport Harbor surrounded by island breezes? Our inaugural Newport Waterfront Reggae Festival proved to be such a raging success that we’re making it a summer tradition–and expect it to be a summer tradition! This year we’re pushing the festival vibe even further by making all the tickets general admission, with no reserved seating so more reggae fans can be part of the scene. Like our other Newport Waterfront Events, there will be lots more to explore and enjoy, including vendors offering a marketplace of clothing, artisan goods, jewelry and body art, and of course an array of food and beverage ranging from cold beer and festive cocktails to Jamaican favorites!
Beginning at 10:30am, Soulshot, one of New England’s premier reggae, ska, and rocksteady bands, will be performing outside the main gates to get the party started. The gates will open at 12pm, at which point the main entertainment will start on the open-air Courtyard Stage in the following order: The Itals at 12pm, Bushman at 2pm, and The Skatalites at 4pm. The headliners will be performing under our concert tent on the Main Stage beginning with Michael Rose of Black Uhuru at 6pm, followed by Yellowman & The Sagittarius Band at 8pm. All times are approximate and are subject to change.
Note: Due to a scheduling conflict, Bushman and The Skatalites have swapped performance times. Bushman will take the stage at 2PM, and The Skatalites will take the stage at 4PM. We apologize for any inconvenience.
