Summer Blues
Tomorrow night, Saturday, July 27th, Susan Tedeschi will close out a fantastic weekend of music in downtown Newport. Never have the summer blues sounded and made you feel so good! Click below for a superb live song sample.
Also, if you’re in town tonight, why not stop by to see Los Lobos perform? Many musical groups are eclectic, but few are both as unpredictable and successful as Los Lobos. The band has notched a number one single, won three Grammys, and sold millions of records. They’ve shared the stage with acts as varied as Dylan, The Clash, and U2. And they’ve received tremendous critical acclaim! As if that wasn’t enough motivation to move you, Santa Mamba, of local Rhode Island fame, will be opening the heart-pumping, beat-bumping show. What have you got to lose, besides the stress of the work week?
Viva la musica!

Tickets are still on sale for tomorrow night’s show, Los Lobos! Are Latin beats the musical notes that move you? Then you won’t want to miss this hotter than hot performance on the waterfront tomorrow night, as Los Lobos spices things up with their sultry songs. Hope to see you there, and don’t forget your shades!

Clambassador RISD
Hey Harbor Fans!
I wanted to share with you a great video sent over from some of our friends at RISD Caters. You see, we were lucky enough this year that the Brooklyn Chowder Surfer (I love that dude - check out his clam-tastic youTube videos here!) stopped by to sample some delicious chowder, spend the day on the waterfront, and document all the happenings of the 2009 Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-Off. At the end of a rockin’ and rewarding day, the Chowder Surfer himself got up on stage to present a new award for 2009 - the Clambassador Award!
He proclaimed that RISD Caterers deserved the new award “hands down” for the “fresh ingredients” that made it a must chow-down-chowder. RISD, being the clever and creative beings they are, put together this video so we could all share in the journey from lowly chowder-churner to champion. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but mostly it just made me hungry and wish for the 2010 Great Chowder Cook-Off to get here faster! Enjoy!

Chowdaheads
The Rhode Show came down to our part of the Ocean State this morning to see what all the chowder fuss was about! Safe to say, the staff is full of converted chowdaheads now. Check out the video to watch interesting interviews with a few chefs that will be cooking and creating tomorrow at the festival. I guarantee your mouth will be watering by the end of it!
Stirring things up
In celebration of the Great Chowder Cook-Off this Saturday, we prepared two of last year’s winning recipes on the Rhode Show this week. Watch the video above and read on for the recipes to try it out for yourself!

THE CLAM OF THE HOUR
WARNING: This post is not for those who dislike talking clams, festivals, having fun, or eating delicious chowder. Anyone who likes speaking sea creatures, fun events, just plain ol’ having fun, and savoring scrumptious fare, please read on.

Hello Harbor Chatter fans! Clyde the Clam here. I am unbelievably excited to write the opening post for what is sure to become a world-renowned blog (because I’m on it, of course!). If you’re not quite sure how you got here, that makes two of us. But to figure out where you are (because you are indeed, here!), check out the About page to read more about Harbor Chatter.
Now, I am one Very Important Clam, so when I was asked to host the opening post, I had to make sure it fit into my schedule. But as I’m in Newport this week for the Oscars of Chowder, I figured I might stop by and answer some frequently asked questions I get all the time from my most loyal of fans. Most of these fans are less than 5 feet in height, but who’s a littleneck to discriminate?
So, onto the important stuff. Like, am I stuffed? What gets under my shell? Who is the man behind the clam? And, most importantly, is there even one reason not to attend the Great Chowder Cook-Off this Saturday, June 6th? Read on to find out!
