What’s Cookin’ at the Great Chowder Cook Off?

This Saturday, RAIN OR SHINE, The Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-Off event will take place.  So-so beach weather is GREAT chowder weather!  So come on down to where the chowder will be as hot as the competition.  We have never had a rain out in over 30 years, and this weekend is no exception!  If you call yourself a chowda-lover…the Cook-Off is the place to be this Saturday!

The legendary Great Chowder Cook-Off officially kicks off summer in Newport this Saturday, June 2!  Be a part of the original, largest, and longest running (over 30 years!), chowder bonanza in New England located right in the buzz of historic downtown Newport.  With a wide spread from national to regional competitors, festival-goers will taste-test a myriad of traditional and exotic chowders from all kitchens, then vote for the best in three categories: Clam, Seafood and Creative. The winners’ pots are bigger than ever this year making this culinary competition piping hot! In addition, we have added some  new and exciting culinary competitions, contests, live music and more!

Note - For all the parents to take a load off, be sure to take advantage of the RIPTA® Stroller Park & Walk located just inside the gates for your convenience, courtesy of RIPTA®!

Chowdahead Club: Chowdahead Club Chowder and Power Hour from 11am-Noon is Sold Out. The Chowdshead Club Is an exclusive access pass for our hardcore chowder fans! Membership grants you access to the Chowder Power Hour, a one-hour preview event from 11am-12pm before the gates officially open to the public. Only fellow Chowdahead Clubmembers are invited to navigate the event before the crowds arrive, meet the chefs, greet participating team members and get the very first tastes of 2012′s chowder creations.
