After moving back to his hometown of Newport from Seattle in 2007, veteran touring musician Mike O'Donnell decided he had more to offer than three chord punk rock, and he formed folk rock band The Skinny Millionaires. Their sound has been described as "a cross between the rootsier selections in Beck?s catalogue and a traditional Americana version of The Pogues," and "the closest thing Newport will get to having a new Bob Dylan." In 2010, The Millionaires won Best Local Band in the Newport Mercury.
