The Newport Waterfront Events 2009 season was one not to be forgotten. Each event knocked our socks off, with a higher combined attendance rate over last year. And we have you to thank for it! We hope you had as great a time enjoying each unique event as we did pulling it together. Be sure to check out our favorite candids of festival-goers (hey, you might even be in one!) and if you haven’t already, let us know what you thought. We hope to see you back next season – mark your calendar for our 2010 dates and be sure to check back soon for the ones still being planned!
November is a month for sharing what we are thankful for, and at the Newport Waterfront Events season wrap-up barbecue, it was clear we were all happy to have one another’s talents and dedication, as well as our loyal attendees (including you!), contributing to a special events season like no other. The team celebrated by finally kicking up their feet, swapping stories, and remembering an incredible 2009 season. In fact, we can’t wait to do it all over again in 2010! Plus, a little insider news, we have a new event to announce! We are happy to welcome the Newport WineFest to our family in the upcoming event season, where you’ll have the chance to swirl, swish, savor and swoon with some of the finest wines, food, spirits, beer, restaurants, and chefs around. Save the date for August 20-22, 2010!
It’s (almost) the most wonderful time of the year! What better way to kick off the holiday hoopla than to join us for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony downtown at the Sovereign Bank Family Skating Center on Friday, December 11th. Seasoned skaters of all ages (and novices, too!) are welcome to watch as our tree turns fabulous with the flick of a switch. And don’t let us fail to mention that the big man himself will be there. That’s right, Santa will be on site to check in with children and make sure their wish lists are coming along nicely. Throw some carolers and complimentary goodies into the mix, and you’ve got one start to the season that surely can’t be missed. The festivities begin at 5:30PM - we hope to see you there! Warm up to winter, if only because it is the perfect time to experience outdoor ice-skating in the heart of Newport harbor, and it’s located just steps from the most decorated downtown shops and restaurants. Not only is it the best spot to glove up and glide with your favorite family member or significant other, but there are special events happening at the rink on a weekly basis that are sure to get your heart pumping. With charity benefits, weekly discounted specials and other goodies, there is no excuse not to brace for the weather and embrace the open-air community center that is the rink. Enjoy seasonal fun with minimal funds. Even the Grinch would agree that everything’s twice as nice on the ice!
