People get ready: On August 14, our sizzling 2010 Series culminates with the Newport Waterfront Reggae Festival, a 10-hour day of positive vibes and easy groovin,’ washed in the cool island breeze of Newport Harbor. Bask in a swirling soundscape of reggae, roots, rocksteady, dub, ska, dancehall, and everything in between, stirred up by a stacked lineup of traditional and modern acts, featuring Bob Marley’s legendary backing band, The Original Wailers, and progressive roots-reggae revolutionaries John Brown’s Body, as well as Rebel Heat, The Ravers, and Soulshot with special guest Doreen Shaffer of The Skatalites! Tickets are on sale now, so come join the party and feel your troubles melt away!
It's good to be the King! The legendary B.B. King will amaze a lucky audience with his unmatched musical talents under our Sunset tent on Sunday, July 11th for the benefit of the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum. At age 84, he is still light on his feet, singing and playing the blues with the relentless passion he has possessed since he started recording in the late 1940's. Several number one hits and fifteen Grammy Awards later, King is still dazzling audiences with the help of his main squeeze Lucille - his loving name for his guitar. Topping off this very special fundraising event, King has donated one of his legendary "Lucille" guitars to be auctioned during the concert. Not only will there be a clash of top competitors, with returning champions in all categories – Clam, Creative, Seafood, and Clam Cake – but toss in chefs traveling from as far north as Alaska, west as California, south as Florida and east as Maine and you’ve cooked up the ultimate showdown for national bragging rights. And if you need a spoon rest, visit the Amica Family Fun Area at the event! The restaurants are still pouring in by the day, so check back often for the most up-to-date lineup. And when the chefs do throw their clams into the fire, it’s only you that can choose the champion! The Newport Yachting Center Box Office will open and commence the 2010 summer season on Monday, May 24th. Come visit us at 4 Commercial Wharf (just off America's Cup Avenue) in downtown Newport to buy your tickets to any or all of our exciting events in person. Secure some prime seats for your favorite Sunset act, or grab a new Weekender pass for full entry to your preferred festival. Our summer hours are Monday – Thursday, 10am to 5:30pm; Friday – Saturday, 10am to 7pm; and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
